St Mary’s College in Crosby held a mufti day to raise funds for Liverpool Bereavement Service’s Oakleaf Service. The children and staff all had fun dressing in their own clothes for the day and raising money for Oakleaf.
They mamaged to raise a HUGE £700 and we are very grateful to them for donating this money to us.
Oakleaf is a dedicated bereavement service for children and young people who are affected by bereavement, loss and separation in their life.Bereavement is difficult for us all and for young people the process of grief can feel overwhelming. Sometimes it is difficult to find the words to help children come to terms with their grief.
At Oakleaf we provide counselling and interventions for children and young people who have suffered life changing circumstances and give them the space to express their grief in their own way.
All young people and their families who have or are currently experiencing loss, trauma or change in life circumstances can benefit from Oakleaf Service. We recognise how the impact of loss and separation can influence a young person’s behaviours and emotional wellbeing. Through our interventions young people are given the opportunity to fully explore coping strategies.

Fundraising, like this brilliant effort from St Mary’s, helps us to continue to deliver this much needed support to young people and their families when they need it most.
Liverpool Bereavement Service, and Oakleaf, is a charity and we rely on the generosity of people within the community to help us raise the funds we need to keep providing counselling to children, and adults, who need it.
Having a non-uniform day is an easy way to raise funds that does not put unneccesary pressure on families, wearing your own clothes to school for a small donation really does add up to a big benefit for charities like ours.
There are ways to make the day more fun if you wanted, such as wearing odd socks or having a colourful theme, whatever the school and children decide, make sure the day is fun!
We wanted to say a last thank you to St Mary’s College, we hope that your day was fun and we want you to know that the money that you have raised will go towards helping children who are going through a difficult time, your kindness really will make a difference!
