Thank you Notre Dame Catholic College!

Liverpool Bereavement Service would like to say a huge thank you to the staff and pupils of Notre Dame Catholic College for their fundraising activities at the end of summer term.

On July 14th, Notre Dame held ‘Ava’s day’ in memory of their student, Ava White. The day was organised by Ava’s friends in year 9 with the support of the school Chaplain and Assistant Head of year. There were lots of fundraising activities throughout the day including the sale of white angel key rings and white ribbons to signify awareness against violence towards women and girls and honour Ava’s name.

Touching tributes to Ava were shared on a butterfly display in school and Ava’s favourite song was played during lesson changes. The school were supported with a fantastic effort from the community who generously donated hundreds of items to the cake and crisps sale.

Av’s friends presented Liverpool Bereavement with £1000 of the money raised. Leslie Mosses from Liverpool Bereavement Service had the opportunity to speak to the students about the service we provide and thank them personally for their generosity, saying,

‘We receive so may referrals for young people. This £1000 will help us to reach an additional 6 children and provide them with 6 sessions of 1-2-1 support which can make a huge difference to those affected by the loss of a loved one. We can’t thank you enough.’

We will continue to work closely with Notre Dame Catholic College to ensure that the students continue to be supported following the loss of Ava.
